How sport can shape who you are
Sport has always been part of my identity.
Not just something I do, but something that has shaped how I think, feel, and live.
I grew up as a gymnast, the daughter of two gym teachers, which meant I was exposed early on to the values of discipline, structure, and consistency.
Gymnastics was not an easy path.
It demanded focus, resilience, and the willingness to push through discomfort, physically and mentally. But it also gave me something fundamental: the understanding that growth comes from repetition, practice, and persistence.
Later, I found myself drawn to dance, classical, modern jazz, and contemporary, where performance meets emotion.
Dancing taught me another layer of discipline, the ability to express, to be fully present, and to connect with my body differently.
It wasn’t just about strength or flexibility anymore; it was about grace, rhythm, and alignment between mind and movement.
These experiences laid the foundation for the person I am today: resilient, high-performing, competitive, and goal-oriented.
Whether in sport, business, or coaching, I’ve always carried that mindset with me: show up, give your best, learn from mistakes, and keep going.
Today, I do strength training four to five times a week in the gym.
It’s my ritual, the time I dedicate to myself, where everything else fades into the background.
It’s not about chasing a perfect body, but about chasing progress.
Every time I lift heavier, head stands longer, or recover better, I see the reflection of my inner work.
Sport is also one of the main pillars of my mental health.
It grounds me. When life gets chaotic, training gives me stability and structure. It helps me manage stress, release tension, and reconnect with clarity and focus. It’s where I recharge my energy and process what’s going on in my head.
And there’s something deeply empowering about witnessing your own progress, about feeling stronger, more capable, more in tune with your body. It reminds me that no matter how busy life gets, there’s always space for growth, both physically and mentally.
For me, sport isn’t just a passion. It’s a teacher, one who constantly reminds me of who I am and what I’m capable of.
It has shaped the way I lead, the way I coach, and the way I approach challenges.
It has taught me that discipline brings freedom, that resilience is built through repetition, and that progress, not perfection, is what really matters.
So, when people ask me where my focus, determination, and energy come from, the answer is simple: from sport.
From years of showing up, falling, standing back up, and doing it all over again.
Because the lessons I’ve learned through sport are the same ones I bring into every area of my life:
👉🏻 Set a goal.
👉🏻 Stay consistent.
👉🏻 Learn from failure.
👉🏻 Celebrate progress.
👉🏻 Keep moving forward.
That’s what made me who I am today.
I want to invite you to think about what your focus, motivation, or hobby is that can bring out the best in you, even when things are not going as expected.
What is your safe go-to activity?
How do you feel about it after you do that activity?
Think deeper, where does it come from the willingness to do that activity? What’s your motivation?
